Poetry

Today I am being lazy. But because I don't want to not post anything I just thought I'd post a poem I wrote.
I do that sometimes. Just write a poem. It's fun, you should try it too.

So here it goes

Pictures

Quick, quick
Take it
Might be the latest flick
quick
even if its any other twat

Sea and the sun
I run
quick and shoot
for the album

You know what I got
quick, think
I just got
got
just another snapshot

Stay tuned

Me and coffee

So right now I am sitting in a cafe called latte grande. I am sure that I'll be here more often from now because not only is the coffee good, they also have Internet. As a matter of fact this cafe has inpired me to start keeping track of all the cafes I have been to and am going to go to in the form of a little book. Of course I'll also put all those cafes on here. So keep checking.

I realised that it's quite amusing to be just by yourself from time to time in a big city like Vienna because you get to think a lot and it also made me start this blog.

I always considered blogging as boring and a waste of time but I'm quite enjoying it and hope all of you observers do as well. Even if there probably isn't that many of you. Yet.

Yesterday I was reading this article about the financial crisis the world is in at the moment and it was giving advice on how one can save some money. One of those advices was to not have coffee in cafes anymore and rather make it yourself and take it with you. But where would be the fun of that? I love going to cafes as you might know and do it at least once a week. Wheter it's with friends or just by yourself, cafes are the way forward. You see beautiful people ( yes I am on the lookout), you can observe others, spend a whole day in there, catch up with your friends or just relax. There are so many things that I could think of for what cafes are good for. It's just a luxury that I don't want to miss. At all.

I just bought some books earlier on for university and as the guy was about to put the books into a plasticbag I told him that I have my own bag with me and wouldn't need one. In response he said 'well too late now I already put them in the bag'. I am sure that he was only doing his job but come on the whole world is talking about saving the environment yet anywhere you go they throw plastic at you. As if we couldn't live without it. The other day I was on the British Airways website looking around and when you book a flight they offer you to pay an extra five pound in order to reduce carbon emmission. So I am only waiting for the day where they'll start charging money for not taking a plastic bag in shops.
'Would you like a bag with that?'
'No thanks'
'Well then it's three euros for the groceries and another five for the bag that you're not taking'

The world is full of such hypocritical things and I'll let you know when I find the next one.

For now I'm going to stop writing because I have written this whole post using my iPod and I am starting to feel dizzy. But there's more to come. A lot more.

So stay tuned and maybe comment on some of my posts and add you're own thoughts. It would be highly appreciated.

So far,
Marcel

About Marcel and his all so many parcels

I kind of skipped and forgot the part where I write something about myself. Thankfully I have friends that remind me of such things.

Friends that are going to Israel. Have to see what that is all about.

So lets start with a picture of myself.

My name is Marcel and I am 20 years old, what a standard sentence to write. I live in Vienna and start studying Economics and French at Vienna School of Econimics on Monday the 2nd March and I am really looking forward to it. At the age of 16 I moved to Cambridge,England where I first went to a language school for one year and then went on to a Sixth Form to do the International Baccalaureate for another two years. In May 2008 I moved back to Germany where I originally come from and did my national service as a paramedic, a great experience unlike any other.

My interests are mainly based around Art, whether its painting, photography, music or anything that falls into the broad category of art. In the following days, months and years I will be posting art of myself and others on here. I just love it. I also love travelling, socializing and all those other 'standard-hobbies'.

I think I am a person that others find easy to talk to. I always have an open ear and also enjoy a lot of talking myself.

Anyways you either know me or you might be able to see what kind of person I am by looking at my blog.

Be sure to check out the 'La musique' list on the right, because from now on I'll try to post a song that I like every day and you'll be able to see what kind of music I am into.

So far,
Marcel

In addtition to this text I have taken a few photos of where I live.

This is the house which I live in.

And my Room. Which is at the moment a little messy. I do clean it though. Every now and then.

Du oder ich

Du oder ich ( You or me) by Maria Lassnig.

Couple of days ago I dragged my friend along to come to the Mumok with me, the Museum of Modern Art in Vienna. I have been wanting to go there since I visited Vienna in November because back then I didn't get the chance to and last week I was finally able to go. As I am a big fan of Modern Art I obviously enjoyed walking around the museum even though it doesn't come up to the standards of the Tate Modern in London.

We started on the 6th floor of the museum and worked our way downwards through different exhibitions. After a while we then got to the exhibition of Maria Lassnig. I am not an art critic but I would describe her paintings as vibrant and aggresive. She mostly uses very strong, almost fluorescent, colors. The content of her pictures is rather difficult to describe which is why I put a picture of one of her paintings on here so you know what I am talking about.

If you ever come to Vienna try to visit the Mumok, it's worth it. Oh and make sure to inform me so that we can meet up for a coffee.

So far,
Marcel

The Beginning

So far this day has been pretty boring. It took me about 4 hours to get out of bed and since I didn't want to waste the whole I decided to go for a coffee. On my own. Yes people I have only been here for about 10 days and havent made any friends yet. The only friend I have here is Elli and she went to the Uk this morning to visit her boyfriend for a couple of days.
Anyways back to the core of my little story, as I was sitting in the cafe having a Melange and smoking a cigarette, on my own, I thought it'd be a good idea to start a blog. I have still got a whole week until Uni starts and don't want to waste my time with useless things so I am going to invest some time in blogging, hope it pays off.

My blog is going to be about the experiences I am about to make in Vienna. I am also going to use it to share other various things with you, music I like, Art of others, Art of my own and just anything that could be suitable for a blog, so anything really.

About the english, I do realise that I have got a lot of German friends, but its more convenient to write in English because that way almost everybody who reads this can also understand it.

I would be honoured if you were to have a look at my blog every now and then and maybe even comment on it.

Enjoy.

So far,
Marcel
